Devensis is an Irish company that organises medical education events, primarily in the Primary Care sector.
Our Chief Medical Officer is Dr Rima Aboud who is a practising GP with a passion for providing up to date, relevant and high quality GP education. Rima qualified from Imperial College London School of Medicine gaining a Distinction in Clinical Practice. She is a member of both the Royal College of GPs and the Irish College of GPs. She founded the GPHorizon app, a secure forum for professional discussion between GPs (now known as “NB On Call”).

SPEAKER BIOS

Dr. Paul Ryan
Paul works as a GP in Cork City. He is also pharmacist and has a passion for teaching therapeutics and clinical pharmacology. He has delivered lectures to thousands of GPs and Pharmacists Nationwide since 2005. He founded GPConsult.ie which has a collection of over 400 evidence-based consultation templates seen in everyday GP practice. He also founded PrescriptionRevision.com, which offers live and online tutorials on evidence-based prescribing in GP practice, and Pharmabuddy.ie, which is an online platform for Irish pharmacists.

Dr. Deirdre Lundy
Deirdre is a 'GP with Special Interest' specialising in Sexual & Reproductive Health. Working in various Family Planning & Well Woman clinics since 1991 she began training colleagues over 25 years ago working with the RCSI, the Irish College of General Practitioners and various private medical educational companies. More recently she started to focus on Menopause Care (as demand was rising). She is accredited by the British Menopause Society as a Menopause Expert and Trainer and she is the Lead Medical Officer for the National Maternity Hospital’s “Complex Menopause Service” (established in 2021 through the National Women and Infants Health Programme).
Deirdre continues to offer online/live webinars in sexual and reproductive health for medical colleagues via GPBuddy, Practice Nurse Buddy & Pharmabuddy and is a member of the “Ask the Experts” panel on GPBuddy. She helps manage the 900+ “HRT Prescribers" phone app which provides real time advice to colleague enquiries on menopause. Her book aptly named “The Menopause” was released by Penguin in 2023. She has worked with a variety of pharmaceutical companies to produce desktop and quick reference guides to women’s health prescribing and is currently the lead for the team which is developing the first RCPI/IOG guideline for ‘Management of the Menopause in Secondary Care’.

DR. Johnny Loughnane
Dr Johnny Loughnane is a retired GP. He graduated from University College, Cork in 1980. Prior to retirement in June 2022, he had worked in Newcastle West, Co Limerick for 36 years. He was Primary Care Clinical lead with the National Dermatology Care Programme for several years. He was also a member of the advisory group on skin cancer management with the Irish Cancer Society.
